I stumbled upon an interesting feature of SVGs.

I had placed an SVG logo into a web site; whose type wasn’t converted to outlines. When I viewed the page without the typeface enabled the SVG rendered with Times, yuck. What I discovered though was; when you open the SVG in a text editor you can see the font-family reference, and provide a full font stack for fallbacks.

Neat! But not that useful.

This just proves to me what others have been saying about SVGs, they are quite robust and probably the optimal image format (at least for vector shapes) going forward.
